Ruhuna — The Earthy Rainforest Lift
Down in the low-lying plains of Sri Lanka, right near the edge of the dense Sinharaja rainforest, Ruhuna tea thrives in the rich forest soil. The warm humidity makes the tea bushes grow quickly, producing large, dark leaves that brew into a thick, naturally sweet, and bold cup. It's what my family drinks for a strong start.

Ingredients
Brewing Guide
Bring water to a near-boiling 98°C to extract the rich minerals and maltiness from the thick leaves.
Add the Ruhuna leaves to your pot, pour the water, and steep for 2 minutes.
Strain the tea. Ruhuna has a robust body that takes milk and sweeteners beautifully.
Stir in a splash of rich coconut milk or dissolve the jaggery sugar for a slow-release glucose lift.
The Mindful Ritual
The Solar Horizon (Aditya Ritual)
A somatic practice to ground your nervous system while the warm tea steeps and cools.
Stand up while your Ruhuna tea brews. If possible, move to a window or a spot with natural light.
Hold the hot mug at chest level, close your eyes, and take in the deep, sweet, honey-like aroma of the steam to wake up your senses.
Sip the tea while standing tall, taking a deep breath in and expanding your chest, welcoming the morning warmth into your body.
